It is hard to imagine that teddy bears have only been with us since the German company, Steiff invented them in 1902, it seems that the old teddy bear has been with us forever. Old bears have an appeal about them which is very difficult to describe, all I would say is everytime I see an old teddy bear, especially from my childhood era he brings back so many memories of my childhood, memories of days at the seaside, listening to records on my old record player, birthday parties with little friends and of course christmas mornings, why, because my old teddy bear was with me always on all of these occasions. Old teddy bears also make me feel warm and comfortable in a very old fashioned kind of way, it's like watching The Snowman on television or eating jelly and blancmange, it makes me feel warm, cosy and protected, feelings I felt when cuddling my old bear as a child. Old teddy bears bring out memories of childhood which we could so easily have forgotten, his smiling old face, his missing eye and his limp and googly old limbs, we remember everything that made him that way. The old teddy bear sits in the same chair that he sat in when you were both young, he watches you, he waits for you to give him cuddles and can still listen to your hopes and dreams and he is still there as a shoulder to cry on no matter what your age, you still need each other, you know you do, that is his appeal. I have to diet now as I've eaten far too much, although I have to tell you (they will not appreciate this) that my keepers did too, they ate far more than they should have, my one keeper loves Christmas Pudding and had about three servings all fully loaded with fresh cream and my other keeper loves mince pies and she ate so many it shocked us all (she had brandy cream on those), can you imagine what they are like now? Anyway, I had better move on....... During the year 2010 I am looking forward to doing plenty of racing, my keepers have even booked me a drive in a Trabant. I will be telling you all about the racing and also I will be introducing you to lots more of my old teddy bear friends.
